Glossary: Wigs, hairpieces and hair replacementFlagge DeutschlandDrapeau FranceQuesto lato su italiano.Bandera de España.

Banana clip (Bananenspange)
The hairpiece is attached by two large curved hair combs, which are pushed into one another.?Banana clips are used only for relatively large hairpieces.
Band wig (Bandperücke)
In band wigs, a wig is attached to a solid rubber hair band. This ensures that the hair is visible at the base of the forehead and gives you the feeling that you have worn only one hair band.
Carnival wigs (Faschingsperücken)
Carnival wigs differ from normal wigs through the cheap hair and manufacturing quality.?We do not offer any carnival wigs.
Child wig (Kinderperücke)
Wigs for children differ only by the head size and typical children hairstyles. Qualitatively they are prepared like all other wigs. Women wigs in smaller sizes can also be used rather than child wigs.
Clasp fasteningClasp fasteningClasp fastening (Spangenbefestigung)
The hairpiece can be fastened with a hair clip. The hair is attached to the clasp.
Clip fastening (Clip Befestigung)
The hairpiece is attached to a clip, which is provided with a tension spring. Thus, the optimal integration into your own hairstyle is very simple.
Clips (Clips)
There are various forms of clips available for attachment of hair pieces. These may include small combs that are attached to the hair part, in different sizes and shape and also small lockable clips.
Colour of wigs and hairpieces (Farben der Perücken und Haarteile)
The colour designations of the wigs are roughly as follows:
the number 1 always means black, with 6 as brown and going up to blond. Numbers 50 to 100 usually indicate shades of grey.
Three-digit numbers give no direct indication.
If several colours are separate, then the first number corresponds to the colour with the largest amount of colour and is complemented by each further colour.
The letters indicate varieties, or the coloured rings that are used.
For individual colours there are partially no numbers and only colour names are used.
It is also possible that the individual colours of the respective manufacturers are slightly different.
In general: the effective colour can only be shown in nature. All coloured images on the internet may used only as reference.
Colour ring (Farbring)
All manufacturers use their own or even several other colour systems, which are, however, similar. Colour rings are colour pattern collections. They are effective coloured stands of hair with colour specifications are attached to the ring.
Crap-Clip fastening (Crap-Clip Befestigung)
A slightly different design of the clip attachment. The clip remains visible, such that the impression is created that your hair is only tied up together.
Crown monofilament (Scheitelmonofilament)
Only a relatively small part is provided with monofilament.
Very fine mesh insert on the upper part of the wig on which individual hairs are attached directly, such that when looking at the scalp, no part of a wig can be seen.
This also gives you the possibility to set the crown as desired.
Only high-quality wigs have a monofilament.
Double comb attachmentDouble comb attachmentDouble comb attachment (Doppelkamm Befestigung)
The principle is the same as in the banana clips but the combs are smaller.
Double monofilament (Doppelmonofilament)
It is like a monofilament, but has a second fine mesh. This makes the wig more skin-friendly.
Monofilament:
Very fine mesh insert on the top of the head part of the wig, in which the hairs are attached directly so that the wig cannot be seen by looking at the scalp.
This also gives you the possibility to set the crown as desired.
Only high-quality wigs have a monofilament.
Fancy (Fancy)
Fancywigs have a good quality design, but are rather fancy in appearance and/or very fashionable.
Fancywigs are qualitatively better than carnival wigs.
Fashion wigs (Modeperücken)
Fashion wigs are mainly worn for fun, e.g. to get a perfect appearance in the evenings with long hair. Fashion wigs have a bolder cut and colour.
Film (Film)
Like a skin insert, but on very thin and transparent "skin" and in good quality as monofilament.
Film base (Filmansatz)
Like lace front.
The newest! With normal wigs, the forehead hairline is always the problem. The hair should be styled such that it is not visible. Wigs with lace front have a monofilament application up to the forehead. This is so fine that no part of the wig can be seen on the forehead hairline. With a lace front, hairstyles are possible since even the front hairline is visible.
Hair filler (Haarfüller)
Small hairpieces that provide more volume.
Hairpiece (Haarteil)
Hairpieces are attached with a clip / hair ties / flip-top closure at the back of the head, they do not cover the head. The advantage of hairpieces is that a perfect hairstyle with long hair can achieved in a few steps.
Hairpieces are mostly used for the pleasure of longer and fuller hair.
Half wig (Halbperücke)
The half wig does not cover the front hairline, but starts on the top part of the head. Half wigs often start with a headband. They are ideal for the thickening and extension of your own hair.
Hand knotted (Handgeknüpft)
Hand-knotted wigs are qualitatively the best. They are made entirely by hand. Hand-knotted wigs are mainly worn by people who are dependent on a wig.
Headband (Haarreif)
Headbands are often used for half wigs. The half wig begins under the headband and thus the base of the half wig is not visible.
Horn comb (Hornkamm)
Horn combs are used in pairs for attaching hairpieces. The artificial hair is attached to the curved ridges and the own hair is pinched in between through the combs.
Kanekalon (Kanekalon)
Trade name of high quality artificial hair.
Lace (Lace)
As film base.
Mono (Mono)
Abbreviation of monofilament.
Very fine mesh insert on the upper part of the wig on which individual hairs are attached directly, such that when looking at the scalp, no part of a wig can be seen.
This also gives you the possibility to set the crown as desired.
Only high-quality wigs have a monofilament.
Mono part (Teilmono)
Like monofilament but only with a smaller monofilament part and limited to the peg or crown.
Very fine mesh insert on the upper part of the wig on which individual hairs are attached directly, such that when looking at the scalp, no part of a wig can be seen.
This also gives you the possibility to set the crown as desired.
Only high-quality wigs have a monofilament.
Monofilament (Monofilament)
Very fine mesh insert on the upper part of the wig on which individual hairs are attached directly, such that when looking at the scalp, no part of a wig can be seen.
This also gives you the possibility to set the crown as desired.
Only high-quality wigs have a monofilament.
Real hair (Echthaar)
Natural hair, mostly from India. Real hair requires intensive care, similar to your natural hair. It is used less and less because synthetic hair provides more benefits.
Real hair wigs could (where possible!) be coloured, like natural hair.
Real hair wigs are more expensive than synthetic hair wigs.
Rig-out (Montur)
The «design» of the wig with braids and monofilament.
Rubber fastening (Gummi Befestigung)
The hairpiece is attached by an incorporated and not visible rubber ring which can be usually tightened.
Skin application (Hauteinsatz)
Like skin insert
Artificial skin insert similar as with monofilament, but not transparent. More suitable for natural hair than monofilament usually, since a person's own hair is completely covered.
Skin crown (Skinscheitel)
Like skin application.
Artificial skin insert, similar as with monofilament, but not transparent. More suitable for natural hair than monofilament usually, since a person's own hair is completely covered.
Skin insert (Skineinsatz)
Like skin application.
Artificial skin insert, similar as with monofilament, but not transparent. More suitable for natural hair than monofilament usually, since a person's own hair is completely covered.
Snap-on fixing (Schnappbefestigung)
The hairpiece can be fastened by means of a clamp that snaps.
Stretch bands (Stretchbänder)
Rubber bands are used to give the necessary support to the wig. Every wig has them.
Synthetic hair (Kunsthaar)
Common today, they are visually indistinguishable from real hair and offer these key benefits:
- Cheaper,
- Easy to clean,
- Durable.
Quality differences exist based on the suppleness and the hair shine.
High-quality synthetic hair wigs are lighter than real hair wigs, which significantly increases the comfort in wearing.
For wearing a pink red wig, cheaper hair would be used than when you are wearing a wig for medical reasons.
Synthetic hair cannot be recoloured.
Theatre wigs (Theaterperücken)
Theatre wigs are created in a good to high quality. They only differ stylistically from normal wigs.
Turban (Turban)
A turban is a headdress consisting of material that is wrapped artistically around her head.
Two-Tone wig (Two-Tone Perücke)
Normally, wigs are mixed with different hair colours. Here, the hair is in one colour in its entire length.
With two-tone wigs, the individual hairs are in two different hair colours, such that the hairline is kept in a different shade. With Two-Tone wigs, very natural hairstyles are seen.
Weft (Tressen)
Separate «linen / cords» to which the hairs are mechanically attached.
Wig (Perücke)
Artificial headpieces mimicking naturally grown hair.

Hair fillerExemple

In this hair filler, some details are clearly visible.
This part would be suitable for women, who hardly have any hair at the top of the head but enough hair around it for attaching the hair piece.
In the middle at the front, the hairpiece has a monofilament. It can be well recognised that the monofilament is very transparent and thus the scalp can be seen.
In the back part, wefts were used. The weft distance is very small and the wefts are vertically well connected with ribbons. Thus the hairpiece remains in good shape. Also at the individual wefts, sufficient hair are attached. In particular with light colour hair, the density is very important.
With cheap wigs that we do not keep and hairpieces, the weft distance is often too much allowing a view of the wig cap. Also at the wefts, only a little hair are present.
At the front edge, the hair piece is provided with a film, which is more stable than the monofilament part. The fixing of this hair filler takes place with the four clips.

Hairpieces must match your own hair colour better than wigs, so as to make no difference visible. Often it is necessary to match the colour of your own natural hair to the hairpiece.
In contrast to hairpieces, wigs are easier to put on. Hairpieces usually need some more practice. Let us show you the best options.
